Sheridan Road – Kenosha and heading as far south and north as we can!

Hands Along Lake Michigan – Join Hands, Speak Out, Defend Democracy

Did you hear about the 30 mile protest in Chicago?  Hands Across Chicago was possible because 35 different groups across Chicagoland worked together https://handsacrosschi.com/

Inspired by what they did in Chicago, Hands Off Kenosha wants to partner with as many groups as possible to do something similar here in Wisconsin (and maybe down into Illinois too!)

Sheridan Road/Wi 32

Starting in Kenosha and going as far North and South as our partners can take it!

Our Goals:

    • Have a Big Event to get media coverage
      • Let’s face it most of our actions aren’t getting press coverage
      • Could this be a test of concept for a future Hands Around the Great Lakes?
  • Accessible Protest
      • People can stand or sit in chairs/wheelchairs/ walkers in their designated spots
      • Sidewalks!  We will focus on the parts of Sheridan with flat and safe sidewalks!
    • Establish Partnerships
      • United we stand, divided we fall – Let’s  break out of our silos and join together
      • Every group has cool stuff  to share with other groups – cross pollinate our ideas!
  • Community Building
    • Between partner group’s members and between protesters on Sept 20th
    • This needs to be a source of fun and hope – both are acts of resistance!

The more groups that are involved the bigger the impact we can have

Once we start to have an idea of how many partners we might have and where they are located we can start to decide the scope of this project.  We already have access to a planning document from Hands Across Chicago (it can be shared but not posted online) and once we have a dozen other groups signed on we will reach out to ask them for more guidance

Please forward this to other contacts you have in groups who might want to get involved!

  • All groups are welcome, we don’t have to agree on everything in order to work together
  • Groups can either be official planners/sponsors or unofficial/uncredited team members
  • Groups don’t have to be specifically political/protest groups, do you have a book group, bowling league, card club, religious group, or even a group of friends that cares about defending the constitution?  Pick a designated liaison and sign up as an interested group
